SCDJJ’s Public Safety Division is a fully operational police department with statewide jurisdiction. It employs Class I Certified Officers and Security Response Officers, and also operates its own communication center, manned by dispatchers. The Division provides internal and external law enforcement and security for the Agency’s five facilities, and is also responsible for conducting investigations, participating in disaster response, transporting juveniles, assisting employees, and supporting the Agency’s facilities.
Public Safety employment vacancies are posted on the South Carolina Careers website at https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/sc/djj. The Division provides guidance for all applicants and candidates to ease any concerns related to employment with Public Safety.

Applicants may contact the Human Resource Division at (803) 896-9440 with any questions or needed guidance related to possible employment with the Public Safety Division.
We encourage our deputies and employees to be "service-oriented." Therefore, there is no greater recognition for them than to be complimented for their excellent service by a citizen. Please complete this form to tell us about the good work of a SCDJJ employee. The employee and their supervisor will be notified.
We also want to know if we underperformed in any way. If you have a complaint, it can be emailed to ombudsman@djj.sc.gov or policechief@djj.sc.gov, or they can be mailed to:
