Deputy Director, Administrative Services

Nate J. Taylor began his career in 2006 with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) as a Special Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer. He was responsible for ensuring strategy-driven budgets for more efficient alignment with corporate resources. His tenure with the FBI included numerous promotions to include Project Manager, Business Process Manager, and Chief Resource Officer, where he managed the Bureau’s $4 billion-plus personnel budget and strategic planning processes, crafted corporate policy, and provided other organizational services. In 2019, Mr. Taylor was appointed as the Assistant Director of Information Technology, where he had oversight of FBI applications, data services, and the FBI’s cyber security infrastructure. In addition to working with the FBI, Mr. Taylor most recently worked as a Senior Manager with Deloitte, LLC, a global professional services network and accounting firm.  

Mr. Taylor earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Mary Washington and his Master of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary. He will be an asset to SCDJJ and will help shape the agency’s future by driving strategic initiatives, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring all administrative and operational functions support the agency’s mission and goals.

Michael J. Caughman

Public Safety Director

Public Safety Director Jerome Caughman came to the SCDJJ in 2022 after an extensive career in public safety. Throughout his public safety career, he has held numerous titles and certifications after working in all areas of public safety, including Police Officer, Correctional Officer, Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, K9 handler, instructor and more. He is committed to transparency, accountability, and building strong relationships between his officers, agency employees and the community. His leadership emphasizes community-oriented policing, interagency collaboration, and officer development.
